Can the cannulas be cleaned and\u00a0re-used? \u00a0If so, what does one clean them with, and how long are they good\u00a0for? Thank\u00a0you.<\/p>\n
I use mine for months\u00a0without cleaning. \u00a0Changing it only when it gets stiff with age, but my\u00a0wife thinks that\u2019s gross.<\/p>\n
Pretty much anything you\u00a0can think of will work, just remembering that you\u2019ll be breathing past whatever\u00a0you choose, so\u00a0(for example) I\u2019d go for colloidal silver, hydrogen peroxide or\u00a0MMS or alcohol or GSE before Chlorine.<\/p>\n
In the end, they stay\u00a0\u2018pretty clean\u2019 and my wife and I each have our own\u2026 So whatever you think works\u00a0for you.<\/p>\n
When at a conference and\u00a0giving breathing samples\/demonstrations I keep the nose end in a glass of\u00a0colloidal silver\u00a0water; that may or may not be good enough, but it is an\u00a0attempt to prevent cross-contamination.<\/p>\n
This has the additional\u00a0advantage of being able to verify that the gas is actually coming out of the\u00a0cannula (you can see\u00a0the bubbles in the glass), because at 18 lph, it\u2019s\u00a0difficult to \u2018feel\u2019 in your nose.<\/p>\n
So in a Clinic, I would\u00a0think that each person should be \u2018assigned\u2019 their own cannula at $5 each.\u00a0\u00a0They can choose to buy\u00a0a new one each time or use their own. \u00a0They\u2019d\u00a0be in charge of cleaning it if they desire.<\/p>\n
