{"id":997,"date":"2024-10-10T15:33:39","date_gmt":"2024-10-10T19:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/?post_type=product-resource&#038;p=997"},"modified":"2024-10-10T15:33:39","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T19:33:39","slug":"q-does-the-fuel-cell-use-electrolyte","status":"publish","type":"product-resource","link":"https:\/\/aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/es\/product-resource\/q-does-the-fuel-cell-use-electrolyte\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00bfLa pila de combustible utiliza electrolito?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fuel cells do not use electrolyte; but I think you are confusing fuel cells (which take hydrogen and oxygen as fuel to make electricity and water) with an electrolyzer (often called a generator) which uses electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen.<br \/>\nOur electrolyzer designs, like the on-board ER HyZor, use lye (NaOH) as the electrolyte.<br \/>\nI\u2019ve tested hundreds of electrolytes, electrolyte concentrations, frequencies, plate spacings, etc. I\u2019m always looking for the most efficient electrolyzer design, electrolyte and power supply (more on that elsewhere).\u00a0 There is a difference between efficiency and practicality.\u00a0 In my commercial electrolyzer designs I use PRACTICALITY as my main design parameter, sacrificing some efficiency for user-friendlyness and lower cost.<br \/>\nSo far, I\u2019ve discovered that lye is the most practical electrolyte, because it produces BG cleanly, efficiently, is low cost, has low toxicity and is fairly easy to acquire.\u00a0 I\u2019ve designed my electrolyzers to optimize the characteristics of lye so lye (NaOH) will produce 30% more BG than using KOH.<br \/>\nMy electrolyzers are over 100% Faraday efficient if you consider both the BG production and the heat produced.\u00a0 ER1200 WaterTorch independent efficiency test results (without measuring heat energy produced).<br \/>\nA lot of electrolyzers promoted on the internet use baking soda as the catalyst.\u00a0 The reason baking soda works as an electrolyte is because a small portion of it turns into lye. \u00a0The rest of the stuff in baking soda just clogs the system up with impurities and\/or turns into poisons.<br \/>\nYou can cleanly achieve the same result (inefficient electrolysis) by using a 5% mixture of lye (by weight). \u00a0This makes the electrolyte about as benign as citrus juice (see below).<\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false},"product-resource-group":[107],"restricted-resource-tag":[],"class_list":["post-997","product-resource","type-product-resource","status-publish","hentry","product-resource-group-hyzor-resources"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product-resource\/997","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product-resource"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/product-resource"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=997"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"product-resource-group","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/product-resource-group?post=997"},{"taxonomy":"restricted-resource-tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/aquacure-jeffro-dev.linksdev.com\/es\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/restricted-resource-tag?post=997"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
